PURPOSE:To produce a body material of a metal band saw saving high resistance to fatigue by adding elements such as Nb, Ti and Ni to a specifically composed Fe-Cr-Mo-V low alloy steel and decreasing the oxygen content thereof. CONSTITUTION:The low alloy steel contg., by wt%, 0.25-0.50% C, <0.3% Si, <0.40% Mn, <0.15% P, <0.005% S, 2.50-6.00% Cr, 0.30-1.50% Mo, 0.30-1.00% V, and 1 or >=2 kinds of 0.02-0.20% Nb and 0.02-0.20% or the low alloy steel further added with 1.5-3.5% Ni and <0.0015% O alone or in combination is used as the body material of the metal band saw in the case of producing the metal band saw by welding an edge material consisting of a high-speed steel to the body material by welding. After the edge made of the high-speed steel is welded by an electrom beam to the body material for which the inexpensive material is used, the material is subjected to hardening and tempering so that the hardness of the edge is maintained. |
