PURPOSE:To disperse noise by placing a repeater having a packet data transmission/reception function in each main line branching device of a tree branch-shaped distribution network line. CONSTITUTION:In the CATV system having the free form distribution network, repeaters 500, 600... having a packet data transmission/reception equipment function are provided to main line branching devices 302, 303... between a main line and a branch line connected to a center equipment 301. In sending a signal from a terminal 501 to a terminal 601, the terminal 501 detects the non-operation of an incoming line 351 and sends packet data having a transmission destination number and an own terminal number. The center equipment 301 sends the packet data to an outgoing line 340, the repeater 600 in the main line branching device 303 sends the data to the outgoing line 362 and the terminal 601 extracts the data. Thus, the noise collected in the center equipment comes from each repeater only and the noise is dispersed.
