PURPOSE:To process data with high speed by loading a page that includes a necessary data beforehand, temporarily treating it as a permanent one to exclude other unnecessary pages, and thereby decreasing the number of occurrence of overheads in page-swapping. CONSTITUTION:When the necessary page is not present in a main storage 16, a page is fetched from a disk device (external memory device) through a channel 14. An address conversion circuit 12 obtains a phusical address from a logical address by using a page table in a page managing circuit 13, and outputs the result to the main storage 16. The circuit 13 temporarily treats the page including an address from a page specifying register 8 as a permanent page based on the instruction from a control circuit 10. If the specified page does not exist in the main storage 16, the circuit 13 instructs a main-storage control circuit 11 to load the said page (page-fetching in advance). The titled system also has a function to return a page that includes an address from a page releasing register 9 (semi-permanent page) to a non-permanent page which is executed based on an instruction from the control circuit 10.
