<p>PURPOSE:To provide a recording liquid outstanding in rapid dryability after recording, printed image quality, recording characteristics, storage stability and light and water resistances and weatherability, etc. of recorded images, for use in ink jet recording and writing utensils, comprising a water-soluble dye, aqueous medium and specific basic compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective recording liquid comprising (A) pref. 2-8wt% of a water-soluble dye (e.g., C.I. Direct Black 17), (B) pref. 20-89.5wt% of an aqueous medium (e.g. a mixture of water and ethylene glycol) and (C) pref. 0.5-5wt% of a basic compound selected from (i) compounds of formula I [R<1>-R<3> are each (OH-substituted) alkyl, R<4> is OH-substituted alkyl] (e.g., trimethyl-beta-hydroxyethyl ammonium hydroxide), (ii) other compounds of formula II [R<5>-R<8> are each (OH-substituted) alkyl, n is 0 or 1] (e.g. tetramethyl guanidine) and (iii) 1,8-diazabicyclo(5,4,0)undecene-7.</p> |
