NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [X is halogenoalkoxyalkyl; Y is group of formula II (A is =N- or =CH-; Z1 and Z2 are methyl or methoxy)]. EXAMPLE:N-[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)aminocarbonyl]-3-(2,2,2-triflu oroet hoxymethyl)-2-thiophenesulfonamide. USE:A herbicide effective especially against paddy field weeds such as bulrush, arrowhead, etc. The weeds can be selectively exterminated at a low rate of application without causing phyto-toxicity to paddy rice plant. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a thiophene compound of formula iii (X1 is halogenoalkoxyalkyl or monobromoalkyl' R1 is amino, isocyanato, etc.) with a hetero-cyclic compound of formula IV [Z3 and Z4 are methyl, methoxy, etc.; R2 is group of formula V (R3 is alkyl, phenyl, etc.), etc.] and subjecting the reaction product to halogenoalkoxylation reaction or methoxylation reaction. |
