A load-shedding relay 10 for a domestic installation ensures the load-shedding of one or more non-priority circuits when power greater than a predetermined load-shedding threshold corresponding to the power authorised in the subscriber contract is expended. The same load-shedding unit 10 can be used in industrial installations in association with standard current transformers 46 delivering the load-shedding signal with an appropriate value to the unit 10. The device 30 for calibrating the unit 10 includes a value of setting corresponding to this current. This value of setting is for example 5 amperes, whereas the settings for domestic use are greater than 15 amperes. The load-shedding unit 10 drives switches 52, 54 inserted in the non-priority circuits 48, 50 of the industrial installation. <IMAGE>
