PURPOSE:To improve recording speed significantly by providing a means to prevent a backflow of ink into a nozzle of an ink jet recording head. CONSTITUTION:A value 4 is provided at on outlet to an ink chamber 1 in an ink supply channel 3 of a recording head. When a drive signal is applied, a piezoelectric element 5 is transformed to the ink chamber 1 side and thereby ink droplets 7 are discharged through an orifice at the tip of a nozzle 2. At that time, the valve 4 closes preventing a backflow of ink to the ink supply channel 3 side. When the piezoelectric element 5 is returned to its original position, the valve 4 is opened allowing ink to be supplied into the ink chamber 1 from the ink supply channel 3. Thus a one-way flow through the ink supply channel is insured, and the restoration of a meniscus 8 of ink generated in the orifice at the tip of the nozzle 2 can be accelerated. Consequently recording speed can be significantly improved. |
