In the present method for capturing the emissions produced as a result of the process in a metal bath, in particular zinc bath, the zinc bath is enclosed before the articles to be galvanised are immersed. In the enclosure, the noxious vapours are removed by suction, as soon as the articles are immersed and the vapour emission ceases, the enclosure is removed again. As a result, the noxious vapour substances can be sucked off in an optimum manner. The metal bath itself is, however, freely accessible after the sucking-off operation. The apparatus for carrying out the method has movable side walls as well as top parts, which can be easily assembled and dismantled. Transportation to the zinc bath or on from the zinc bath is not obstructed by the enclosure, or the side walls and the top parts.
