In a process for inactivating thermally sensitive, blood-carried vira in IgG preparations, and IgG containing solution, in particular a blood fraction, is subjected to purification to remove reducing carbohydrates and subsequent drying and heat treatment at a temperature of 60 to 95<o>C for 10 to 168 hours under conditions where the residual water content in the preparation is maximum 1% by weight. Such heat-treated IgG preparations have retained their original antigen-binding properties and a low content of complement activating agregates, while being freed of the said types of vira, such as LAV/HTLV-III or Hepatitis. |
