PURPOSE:To improve strength and rigidity without increasing the length of roll necks and to increase rolling force by housing work rolls into a frame to constitute a roll frame unit and making the unit shiftable with respect to the housing of a multi-stage sheet rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:The small-diameter work rolls 5 are housed into the frame 1 to constitute the roll frame unit 6 which is then incorporated into the multi- stage sheet rolling mill. The roll frame unit 6 is constituted shiftably along the housing 12 and a slide beam 11 by the operation of a shifting cylinder 23. The distance L between journal boxes 3 and 4 of the small-diameter work rolls 5 is, therefore, made shortest possible without increasing the length of roll necks, by which the strength thereof is considerably increased and therefore, the small-diameter work rolls 5 are made further smaller in diameter and the larger rolling force is obtd.; in addition, a guide device for shifting is made simpler. |
