PURPOSE:To easily repair lining refractories by removing plural pieces of the lining bricks in a furnace, inserting and fixing new bricks thereto, driving plural pieces of another members into the remaining joint parts, imposing a semi- cylindrical form on the inserted and fixed bricks and forcing monolithic refractories into the formed space. CONSTITUTION:The base metal sticking to the lining bricks 12 remaining in the torpedo car required to be repaired is removed and the torpedo car is turned over 90 deg. to bring the throat thereof to a horizontal position. Plural pieces of the lining bricks 12 positioned in the bottom are removed in the longitudinal direction of the furnace and the new lining bricks 12N having a normal thickness are thereafter inserted and fixed thereto. The many anchor members 14 are driven into the joint parts of the remaining lining bricks 12 and the semi- cylindrical form 16 manufactured to the profile of the inside wall is imposed on the new bricks 12N and is positioned. The monolithic refractories 18 are then fed and packed by a press feed hose 20, etc., into the spacing between the form 16 and the remaining lining bricks 12. The lower half part of the furnace body is thereby repaired. The upper half part as well as the unworkd part of the upper and lower half parts are repaired by the similar method.
