<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the amounts of heavy metals as impurities in electrolytic iron electrodeposited on a cathode when electrolytic iron is manufactured, by circulating an electrolytic soln. through layers of a chelate resin having dithiocarbamate groups. CONSTITUTION:An electrolytic soln. 2 contg. ferrous ions is poured into an electrolytic cell 1, a stainless steel cathode 4 having a horizontal axis of rotation is rotated in the soln. 2 and electric current is supplied to the cathode 4 and platle-shaped mild steel or pure iron anodes 3 parallel to the axis of rotation to electrodeposit electrolytic iron on the surface of the cathode 4. At this time, part of the electrolytic soln. 2 is continuously taken out of the cell 1 and passed through purifying vessels 5, 6 packed with layers 7, 8 of a granular, fibrous or flaky chelate resin such as polystyrene having dithiocarbamate groups to adsorb and remove ions of heavy metals such as Cu and Co in the soln. The purified soln. is returned to the cell 1 and used again. Thus, electrolytic iron contg. small amounts if impurities such as Cu and Co is obtd.</p> |
