PURPOSE:To enable any unsatisfactory product to be certainly rejected on a production line, by positioning a panel equipped with a shadow mask, on a detection base board having a plurality of detector thereon so as to detect any shift of a panel as well as to correct any defective assembly. CONSTITUTION:A panel P equipped with a shadow mask M thereon is positioned above a detection base board 7. Then, the detection base board 7 is lifted by means of a cylinder 5 via a elevator platform 4 and springs 6 so that respective positioning pieces 14 may be brought in contact with the end face of panel P to make positioning. Then, the lower end of the mask M is energized upward through respective detection heads 10 by means of the power of coil springs 12 so that any shift in pin alignment between the panel P and mask M can be corrected. In addition, the positions of detection dogs 11 below the detection heads 10 are detected by respective detection sensors 13 so as to detect the state of assembly. Thus, it is presently possible to remarkably reduce the occur rence of defective assembly together with secure rejection of unsatisfactory products for eliminating the change of generation of poor phosphor face.
