PURPOSE:To prevent power stoppage in a switching section by feeding an output voltage from an inverter to a feeder section and a middle zone after detecting approach and passing of a train in the case of providing a middle zone between switching sections for switching one feeder section to the adjacent one. CONSTITUTION:A self-excited inverter substation is formed of a three-phase power transformer 7 connected to a electric power system 6, a rectifier 8, a self-excited single phase inverter 9 utilizing a gate turn off thyristor (GTO), etc., a single phase transformer 10 for output, a breaker 11 and breakers 2A and 2B for a switching section. Voltage and phase detectors 12 and 13 between feeders of substations SS1 and SS2, current detectors 14 and 15 of respective breakers 2A and 2B are provided as detectors for controlling said substation. And when a ground detector 5C detects approach of a train, the inverter 9 is started, the breaker 11 is turned on to be controlled after the output voltage coincides with the voltage and phase which are detected by the detector 12.
