PURPOSE:To easily detect an imbalance position of a rotating body by only a visual observation, and for instance, to perform a detection of an imbalance position of a propeller shaft of an automobile in its massproduction process, by obtaining in advance information for showing a relation of a peak of a signal obtained from a vibrometer and the imbalance position of the rotating body. CONSTITUTION:When a mark 7 for discriminating a rotational angle position is put to an optional position on the outside peripheral surface of a propeller shaft 1 and it is rotated, the propeller shaft 1 is vibrated, and by a peak of its signal, a stroboscopic tachometer 6 emits a light beam periodically, but this light emission synchronizes with a rotation of the propeller shaft 1, therefore, when the mark 7 rotated with the propeller shaft 1 is irradiated by this light emission, the mark 7 is seen so as to be still. In which position 4 of the propeller shaft 1 which is rotating the still position of this mark exists is observed. On the other hand, by clarifying a fact that the imbalance position is in a point Y of the upper part of a figure at the time point of the light emission of the stroboscopic tachometer 6, by information which has been obtained in advance, it is decided that a point A of a position which has been separated by theta deg. in the rotating direction is the imbalance position.
