PURPOSE:To avoid incoming non-connection due to communication disable state of an electronic computer and the recalling to an opposite station by detecting and informing it to the opposite station when an own station side electronic computer is in the communication disable state at the incoming call and receiving and informing a communication disable signal from the opposite station at dialing. CONSTITUTION:A MODEM has a connection means 11 connected to a network controller and a control circuit 12 controlling the entire MODEM and a reception side circuit 13 and a transmission side circuit 14 are provided between the means 11 and the circuit 12. The control circuit 12 is connected to an electronic computer connection means 27 via a level conversion circuit 26. The transmission side circuit 14 has a communication disable tonal signal generation circuit 24 generation a total signal representing the communication disable state of the electronic computer and a communication disable voice synthesis circuit 25 creating the voice sigal representting the same state of the electronic computer. The reception side circuit 13 is provided with a communication disable tonal signal detection circuit 19 detecting the communication disable tonal signal sent from the opposite station side and a communica tion disable display means 28 connected to tne control circuit 12 applies the display representing the communication disable state of the electronic computer of the opposite station.
