PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of an optical information device as the auxiliary storage device of a computer system by recording a signal with a constant pattern at an address information part which indicates a defective area and identifying the defective area by a means identifying the defective area. CONSTITUTION:If an optical disk 9 is defective and can not be corrected by a read circuit 10, a microcomputer 2 sets the selection of a deleted data mark signal to a write data generating circuit 5 and selects a recording gate switching circuit 7 to an address information part area, thereby performing writing to the optical disk 9 in a pre-group address information part area with a sector address (n+1) through a recording and modulating circuit 6 and an optical head circuit 8. Then, the write data generating circuit 5 and a recording gate switching circuit are selected for data and a data block DB2 is written in a block B3 discriminated with a sector address (n+2). Then, image data in a track address and a sector address of a pre-group which can be identified by an address identifying circuit 11 are read by a reading circuit 10 to read only data blocks having no defective recording data while making a jump over data in a recording defective area.
