PURPOSE:To shorten the time at the time of recording by executing an erasion continuously, and also to improve the operability by switching to a recording mode, when an erasion confirmation is executed by an erasion confirming means and an erasion has been confirmed, and inhibiting the switching, when the erasion is incomplete. CONSTITUTION:An envelope detecting signal is inputted to an envelope detecting circuit 15 from a system controlling circuit 11 at a timing of E, and an envelope signal is outputted from the envelope detecting circuit 15 and inputted to the system controlling circuit 11. When the envelope signal is an 'H' level, it is discriminated to have been erased, a display for showing an erasion completion is executed on a display part 14, and when the envelope signal is an 'L' level, a display for showing an erasion incompletion is executed on the display part 14. This device is constituted so that it is switched to a recording side by inputting a switching signal for switching automatically a switching SWB 13 to the recording side at a timing of C3, to the switching SWB 13 from the system controlling circuit 11, after the envelope signal has been inputted to the system controlling circuit 11.
