The invention relates to an attachment of the spare wheel to the outside of a vehicle, the wheel having, eccentrically with respect to its axis, attachment holes to which attachment bolts of a wall element correspond. At two points, the attachment bolts are omitted and replaced by openings which are aligned with the attachment holes of the wheel in the mounted position of the latter. In both pairs of openings and attachment holes there engage angled-off ends of a rod which are locked on the rearside of the wall element and hence form a fully effective safeguard against unauthorised removal.
