PURPOSE:To obtain a playback image of good quality having no vertical fluctuation during postrecording by substituting an absence part of a playback video signal which is generated during the postrecording with a DC potential. CONSTITUTION:In a figure, Sig8 is a signal which is several Hs (horizontal scanning period) wider than a PCM gate pulse Sig7 during the postrecording. When Sig8 is at a 'high' level, a switch circuit 68 is connected to (b) and the DC potential E1 of a DC voltage source 74 appears at an output terminal 43. The DC potential E1 of this DC voltage source 74 is clamped by a clamping circuit 67 and set slightly higher than the pedestal potential of a video signal supplied to the connection point (a) of the switch circuit 68. Namely, the playback video signal is substituted almost with the pedestal level in a period wherein the playback video signal is partially absent owing to the crosstalk of a recording PCM signal.
