WOOD SPLITTING APPARATUS A wood splitting apparatus has a single vertical mast. A log receiving anvil is mounted on the mast near the bottom thereof. A knife carriage is vertically movable along the mast. Rollers are rotatably mounted on the knife carriage and contact the front and back of the mast. A knife is mounted on the knife carriage. The knife has a plurality of blades extending radially outwards from a central point. Each blade has a cutting edge. The cutting edges of the blades face in the same direction. The cutting edge of at least one blade extends outwardly in this direction beyond the cutting edge of another blade. An hydraulic cylinder is connected between the mast and the knife carriage. The hydraulic cylinder is connected to the mast near the top thereof and to the knife carriage above the knife.
