PURPOSE:To operate by a reduced number of keys even when there are many operation functions by projecting a pattern indicating the contents of an operation of selected other equipments on the picture of a cathode ray tube of a television receiver and moving a cursor on the picture of the cathode ray tube. CONSTITUTION:A character generating part 2-13 for generating a character pattern signal indicating the contents of the operation of other equipments 4 connected to the television receiver (TV)2 is provided to TV2. The instruction of a remote control 3 is received and decoded and a command signal is outputted from a control signal generating part 2-8. According to this command signal, an equipment menu of the other equipments 4 and a contents pattern of the operation of the equipments designated subsequently is displayed on a CRT 2-7. The cursor is moved vertically and horizontally by the operation of the remote control 3 and the equipments and the operating contents desired to be operated are selected to obtain an operation command.
