PURPOSE:To enable the position of a paper to be stably detected and prevent slippage in printing from occurring, by providing the paper with a cutout part such as a hole and a notch, and positioning the paper by detecting the boundary between a platen roller seen through the cutout part and the paper by a sensor. CONSTITUTION:An ink sheet 22 is coated individually with dyes of three primary colors, i.e., blue, red and yellow, and a paper 21 is printed sequentially in blue, red and yellow, whereby color printing can be performed. A sensor 26 is a reflection-type photo-interrupter, and the boundary between the black color of a platen roller 23 seen through a hole 27 provided in the paper 21 and the white color of the paper 21 is detected through a difference in the detection level of the sensor 26, whereby the paper 21 is stopped at a normal position. Thereafter, printing on the paper 21 is performed in the same manner as in a conventional system. Accordingly, the paper can be positioned with high accuracy, and stable printing can be performed. |
