PURPOSE:To suppress the wasteful mixing of secondary cooling air, by performing the control of difference pressure between atmospheric pressure and the pressure of exhaust gas mixed with secondary cooling air at an initial stage by the opening and closing of a secondary air damper and controlling an inverter from the result of said control. CONSTITUTION:A dust collection system is constituted so that secondary air is introduced into a gathering pipe 16 to which the exhaust pipes 12 from a plurality of engines 10 are connected not only to be mixed with exhaust gas but also to cool said gas and the gaseous mixture is forcibly made to flow to the dust collector 26 provided to the downstream side of the gathering pipe 16. The gaseous mixture is preliminarily made to flow through a bypass line 30 with respect to the dust collector 26 and the opening and closing control of a secondary air damper 20 is performed in order to fix the output of an inverter to an initially set range. Thereafter, difference pressure and the temp. of the gaseous mixture are indivisually matched with initial set values by opening and closing the secondary air damper 20 and the dust collector 26 is operated while difference pressure and the concn. of the gaseous mixture are monitored only at the time of the operation of a diesel engine.
