PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for an adhesive and to facilitate the attachment and detachment of a fixture extremely by clamping and holding an optical fiber in a sleeve made of shape memory alloy across a thin metallic layer with a clamping force for the closure of the sleeve. CONSTITUTION:The sleeve 1 which fixes a terminal of the optical fiber 3 is formed of shape memory alloy and opened or closed at a cut groove 7. Further, the optical fiber 3 is covered with a thin metallic layer 2 which has heat conductivity. In this constitution, the sleeve 1 is placed in a closed state by being varied in temperature to insert the optical fiber 3 covered with the thin metallic layer 2 into the gap 9, and the sleeve is varied in temperature to enter the closed state; and the fiber 3 is therefore fixed with the clamping force of the sleeve 1 and then the sleeve is inserted into a sleeve holder. Thus, the fiber 3 is fixed without using any adhesive and the attachment and detachment of the terminal fixture are extremely facilitated.
