PURPOSE:To attain the band compression/expansion of sound by providing plural time axis changing elements, a changeover means, a recording/reproducing means and a drive control means starting the drive of the time axis change elements before the leading of the recording and reproducing means based on the recording instruction. CONSTITUTION:A drive pulse phi1a having a frequency of 14kHz is fed to the 1st time axis changing element 14 from a CPU1. The sound signal of 55msec or so stored in the 2nd time axis changing element 15 is read at a high speed similarly as the 1st element 14, and the timing recorded on the next area T12 to the recording area T11 is attained. In this case, the magnetic disc is turned for several times until the recording to the next recording area T12 is started after the recording to the recording area T11 is finished. Thus, the sound signal of nearly 14sec is subject to band compression, the result is recorded on one track and the continuous recording of the sound signal is attained.
