PURPOSE:To remove the difference of attitude due to the dead weight, etc., of an arm itself and to improve the shock resistance of a device by making the center of gravity of the arm of a magnetic disk coincide with or approach a substantial fulcrum. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disk 100 is supported rotatably by an upper head 20 and a lower head 22 held by upper and lower arms 26, 28 of an arm body 24 from both sides at an opposite position. A carriage 14 is placed to allow moving reciprocally along the radial direction of the disk 100. The end of the common supporting spring 32 of the arm body 24 is fixed to the rear end, and another end extending to the heads 20, 22 side from the rear end is fixed to the carriage 14. THe rear end of the arm body 24 is supported by the supporting spring 32 to the carriage 14 to allow free oscillation, and the two heads 20, 22 are enabled to follow vertical deflection generated at the center of rotation of the disk 100.
