The food is prepared batchwise, in a vessel 1 separate from the dispensing vessel 2, by controlling the various parameters, qualitative and quantitative composition, temperatures of dilution in water of the constituent foods and mixing times and speeds, so as to give the final food optimum nutritional and digestibility qualities, and the final food, which has been brought to the degree of dilution and of homogeneity and to the temperature which are suitable for dispensing to the animals, is transferred, batchwise, into the dispensing vessel, where it is kept homogeneous and at the optimum dispensing temperature. The vessels are equipped with a stirrer 7, 8, with level probes 9, 10, 11, with a temperature probe 20 with temperature regulator 21, with means for introducing water and foods in a metered quantity, and with means 5, 6 for actuating the valve 4 placed on the conduit linking the vessels. The operation of the device may be entirely automated. <IMAGE>
