PURPOSE:To reduce impact sounds and contrive a longer useful life of a printing head, by supplying a solenoid with such a driving signal as to exert a gradually increased attracting force on a plunger thereby gradually operating the plunger, when pressing the printing head against a platen. CONSTITUTION:When a first rectangular waveform signal or a signal of the first stage of a stepped waveform is supplied to a solenoid 7, a plunger 8 is attracted, and is retracted while compressing a solenoid spring 9, whereby a solenoid bar 10 is oscillated counterclockwise with a guide shaft 3 as a center through a connecting pin 10a, and a head holder 4 is oscillated counterclockwise with the guide shaft 3 as a center through a head-pressing spring 11, a head- driving lever 6, a guide part 6a, a projected streak 6b and an engaging groove 4a, thereby bringing a printing head 2 close to a platen 12. The head 2 is brought to a position close to the platen 12 by a first signal, and is pressed against the platen 12 with a sufficient spring force by a second signal. Accordingly, impact force and impact sound are markedly reduced, and the damage of the head is also markedly reduced. |
