PURPOSE:To manufacture a tool steel for hot working having superior toughness and superior strength at high temp. by adding specified percentages of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, W, Mo, V and N to Fe. CONSTITUTION:A steel consisting of, by weight, 0.36-0.50% C, <=1.00% Si, <=1.50% Mn, 0.50-2.30% Ni, 4.05-6.50% Cr, 1.90-3.50% (1/2W+Mo), 0.50-1.60% V, 0.025-0.15% N and the balance Fe with ordinary impurities or further contg. 0.50-4.00% Co and/or 0.02-0.15% Nb is manufactured. The steel has superior wear and seizing resistances at high temp. and is suitable for hot tools of various sizes such as hot forging dies.
