DIRECTION DETECTING SYSTEM FOR ARTICLE

PURPOSE:To eliminate a direction detecting error by a defect of an article edge by providing plural sets of direction detectors of the article and eliminating the directions indicating both outsides by the same number from among the directions detected by the direction detectors of each set and detecting the direction of the article from the remaining direction. CONSTITUTION:Registers A1-H1 of the 1st row arranged on the outermost concentric circle hold information from a picture element existing at the position shown in figure on a pictorial pattern of an object to be inspected and detects the direction of the object to be inspected by the 1st direction detectors 1 based on the direction of the edge of the object to be inspected. Registers A2-H2 of the 2nd row and registers A3-H3 of the 3rd row also detect the directions of the object to be inspected by the 2nd direction detectors 2 and the 3rd direction detectors 3 respectively in the same way as in the registers of the 1st row. The directions indicating the directions of the both the outsides are eliminated out of the directions of the object to be inspected detected respectively by these 1st - the 3rd direction detectors 1-3 with a direction selector 4 and the remaining direction at the end is detected as the direction of the object to be inspected.
