MANUFACTURE OF CLAD TYPE PLATE FOR LEAD-ACID BATTERY

PURPOSE:To prevent the growth of spongy lead caused by repeated charge- discharge by filling lead powder added with paraffin or olefin oil in a tube to form a clad type plates for lead-acid battery. CONSTITUTION:Lead powder 2 is put into a container 1 and a stirrer 4 is rotated with paraffin or olefin oil sprayed from a nozzle 3 to add the oil to the lead powder 2. The lead powder 2 used as a cathode active material 6 is filled in a tube 5 in which a grid 7 made of lead-antimony alloy is arranged in the center to form a clad type cathode plate 8. Anode plates 10 are placed on its both sides vir separators 10 to form a lead-acid battery. With proceeding of charge-discharge, the oil added to the lead powder 2 is released from the cathode plate 8 and the growth of spongy lead is prevented. Therefore, short circuit between the anode plate and the cathode plate can be prevented.
