A main blower for inserting weft yarn in the shed of an air jet weaving loom comprises a yarn entry duct. This duct connects in the flow direction to an at least approximately conically diverging duct portion of which the wall is provided with inlet openings for a fluid (compressed air) arranged such that the fluid jets enter a common mixing chamber defined by that wall, a nozzle tube connecting with the downstream end of that chamber. The openings are preferably directed such that the fluid jets exert a propelling force on the yarn which is continuously distributed over a predetermined length (L) within the chamber.
