PURPOSE:To reduce the oscillation and the noise of a steam valve, by providing holes with which an inlet steam chamber and a pressure chamber are communicated with each other for the sleeve of the steam valve and a valve body, and changing the opening area of both holes corresponding to the opening and closing of the valve body. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 23 is fixed to the inside of an inlet steam chamber 32 of a governing valve, and the cylindrical valve body 24 is slidably put into the sleeve 23. The tubular wall of the sleeve 23 and the tubular wall of the valve body 24 are provided with permeable holes 28, 29 so as to communicate the inlet steam chamber 32 and a pressure chamber 33 with each other. The overlapping (opening area) of these permeable holes 28, 29 changes corresponding to the opening and closing motions of the valve body 24. Thus, the pattern of streams at the downstream of the valve body 24 comes into such a manner that a high Mach numbered supersonic stream which has passed through a big valve seat 31 becomes a circular stream and a low Mach numbered supersonic stream flows in the center portion, so that the stream of an outlet passage 35 can be stabilized owing to the interference effect of both the streams, and the oscillation and the noise can be reduced.
