PURPOSE:To prevent conductive foreign substances produced in a fluorescent layer from existing between the high-voltage electrode part and the low-voltage electrode part of an electron gun by fixing an insulating annular diaphragm extending toward the inner wall of the neck to the electron gun. CONSTITUTION:An annular diaphragm 103 which consists of a macromolecular material made of a synthetic resin such as polyimide is fixed to the high-voltage electrode 9 of an electrode gun 100. The outer periphery 103b of the annular diaphragm 103 is pressed to fix to the inner wall of a neck 4. Due to the above structure, it is possible to effectively prevent conductive foreign substances produced in a fluorescent layer 5 and a shadow mask 6 from migrating to the neck 4 owing to vibration or shock caused during transporation of a cathode-ray tube 1. Consequently, a cathode-ray tube with improved withstand voltage characteristic can be obtained.
