PURPOSE:To attain error correction having a wide application range by storing error generating information in a built-in PROM. CONSTITUTION:In the unrewritten status immediately after the manufacturing of a ROM, the correction of bit information 2 outputted from an output terminal 7 is decided by a tester connected to the built-in ROM 9. When an error is decided, the address of the information 2 and an error bit position are stored in the built-in PROM 9. When an address corresponding to the error is read out based on the correcting information, the read information is corrected by an error correcting circuit 6 and the corrected information is outputted to the terminal 7. Even if the information to be corrected is in any mode, the error is surely corrected an error correction with a wide application range can be attained.
