PURPOSE:To preferentially receive a telephone set when the presence mode is set, by driving a timing device with a controller which monitors hook-off of the telephone and a call signal of a public telephone line and driving a DC line closing device with the output of the timing device. CONSTITUTION:A controller 9 monitors the use state of the telephone outputted from a telephone use detector 8 and the presence or the absence of a call signal on a public telephone line 2 outputted from a call detector 3. When information indicating the occurrence of a call signal is inputted to the controller 9 from the call detector 3, a timing device 10 is driven. When information indicating off-hook of the telephone is inputted from the telephone use detector 8 to the controller 9, the timing device 10 is stopped. If stop information from the controller 9 is not inputted within a time set individually in the automatic answering mode and the presence mode after the timing device 10 is driven, the timing device 10 drives a DC circuit closing device 5 to close the DC loop of the public telephone line 2, and automatic terminating is performed.
