PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head having excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristic and recording and reproducing characteristics and excellent mass productivity by interposing reaction-preventive films consisting of oxide materials and metallic materials to the boundary faces between ferromagnetic oxides and thin ferromagnetic metallic films near a magnetic gap, disposing the oxide materials of the reaction-preventive films to the magnetic core part side providing the metallic materials to the thin ferromagnetic metallic film side. CONSTITUTION:The reaction-preventive films consisting of the oxide films 7, 8 and the thin ferromagnetic metallic films 3, 7 are formed to the boundary faces between the thin ferromagnetic metallic films 3, 4 and the magnetic core parts 1, 2 consisting of the ferromagnetic oxides. The diffusion of the oxygen atoms in the ferromagnetic oxides to constitute the magnetic core parts 1, 2 into the thin ferromagnetic metallic films 3, 4 is prevented by interposing the oxide films 7, 8 to the boundary faces even if the thin ferromagnetic metallic films 3, 4 are formed by sputtering. The formation of the diffused layer occurring in the low oxygen condition at the boundary faces of the magnetic core parts 1, 2 is thus obviated. The metallic films 9, 10 to the formed on the boundary faces are so disposed as to be joined to the thin ferromagnetic metallic films 3, 4, by which the adhesiveness between the thin ferromagnetic metallic films 3, 4 and magnetic core half bodies 1, 2 is improved.
