PURPOSE:To attain natural character conversion by displaying a KANA (Japanese syllabary) character string without conversion into KANJI (Chinese character) when the count value for the number of characters in a KANA character string to be interpreted to KANJI is a fixed number or less. CONSTITUTION:A processing part 4 of a body is connected to a KANA/KANJI conversion part 5 and a KANA character string to be interpreted is inputted from an input device 1 to the processing part 14 through a character number processing part 3. The conversion part 5 converts the KANA character string inputted from the processing part 4 into a KANJI-KANA mixed character string while referring a KANA-KANJI corresponding table 6 and applied the converted character string and confirmed information to a display device 2 through the processing part 3 to display them. Since almost the reading of a word having Japanese meaning generally consists of three or four KANA characters, KANJI output on the head of a clause which is against the operator's purpose can be reduce. Consequently, the operator can easily execute natural character conversion.
