Device for noise suppression in the transmission of audio-frequency signals, i.e. multiband compander with additional high-frequency accentuation connected upstream. In order to prevent overload on the transmission path, e.g. in a magnetic tape device, in the high-frequency range, a weighting circuit for the control of controllable transmission elements is provided in devices of this type, upstream of the band division filters in the signal path to the rectifiers, in order to reduce the transmission value in the high frequency range. According to the invention, this weighting circuit is effective only in the high-frequency channel. This produces a simplified circuit and an improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio in the low-frequency signal band. <IMAGE>
