A device is specified for soldering plugs or the like to cables. The device has a device framework on which a plug holder is mounted. A pair of electrodes which can be moved towards one another like pliers is mounted on the device framework via electrode holders in such a manner that they can grip a plug which is positioned in the plug holder. Operating means for moving the electrodes as well as a controllable power source are provided, said power source being connected to the electrodes via power cables and having at least one switch in order to pass a current via the electrodes through a plug or the like, which is gripped between the electrodes or by them, in order to heat said plug.
