PURPOSE:To enable the leading end of a paper to be easily positioned, by adding a predetermined backward feeding time paper discriminating function for switching to an operation of a paper leading end positioning mechanism when a paper is fed backward by a predetermined distance, to a backward feeding mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When a paper 1 is newly set onto a tractor 2, the presence of the paper 1 is detected by a continuous form paper detecting sensor 3. Therefore, also when a paper-setting switch (a) is depressed by the operator for positioning the leading end of the paper, a discriminating part 8 starts a backward feeding mechanism. In this case, a predetermined backward feeding time paper discriminating function operates to feed the paper 1 backward by a predetermined distance N[mm], and when the paper 1 comes to be not detected by the sensor 3, the backward feeding is stopped, and a paper leading end positioning mechanism is started. However, when the presence of the paper 1 is being detected by the sensor 3 even after the backward feeding, it is judged that the operator intends to perform the backward feeding for detaching the paper 1 or for other purpose, and the backward feeding is continued. |
