PURPOSE:To enhance the break-proof strength and durability of a conveyer belt, by laying lateral material wires around a predetermined number of center material wires to form layers each having a predetermined number of lateral wires, and by twisting these material wires in the same direction to form a steel cord for a belt reinforcing core material. CONSTITUTION:Six first lateral material wires d1 are laid around there center material wires d0, and then six second lateral material wires d2 and six third lateral material wires d3 having a diameter greater than the second material wires d2 are alternately laid therearound. then, twelve forth lateral material wires d4 are laid therearound, and these material wires d1 through d4 are twisted in the same direction to form a spiral steel cord E. This steel cord E is embedded as a reinforcing core material in a cover layer made of rubber or the like in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the cover layer. with this arrangement it is possible to enhance the break-proof strength and durability of a conveyer belt.
