PURPOSE:To electrically detect the consumption of a consumable electrode by embedding plural pieces of detecting electrodes which consisting of a metal having the ionization tendency apart from the consumable electrode body for corrosion prevention of a can body and have electric wires into said detecting electrodes body along the longitudinal direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:The consumable electrode 10 for corrosion prevention of the can body is constituted of the electrode body 11 consisting of a metallic bar having the ionization tendency higher than the ionization tendency of the can body 1 and plural pieces of the detecting electrodes 12 embedded into said body along the longitudinal direction. Each of the above-mentioned detecting electrodes 12 consists of the metal having the ionization tendency apart from the ionization tendency of the above-mentioned electrode body and has the electric wire 12W for leading to the outside of the can body 1. Said electrode is so constituted that the electrical connection between the electrode body 11 and the detecting electrode 12 is interrupted when the electrode body 11 consumes to the prescribed amt. or above. The taking out of the degree of the consumption thereof as an electrical signal is thereby made possible without pulling up the above-mentioned electrode 10 from the consumable electrode can body 1.
