PURPOSE:To set up automatically an always proper transmission condition by storing the history of setting states of transmission conditions for plural destinations and setting up a transmission condition most frequency set up in the past in a transmission function. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal read out from a scanner 1 is applied to a system control part 3 and a recording picture signal corresponding to a receiving image is outputted to a plotter 2. The control part 3 is provided with a parameter memory 4 for storing the history or the like of the setting state of the transmission conditions in the transmission function and a work memory 5 to be a work area. The setting states of the past resolution in respective destinations are detected from the history stored in the memory 4 and whether operator's required resolution for the destinations is reference resolution or high resolution is decided. Even if the operator forgets the setting of the transmission condition, a proper transmission condition is automatically set up.
