PURPOSE:To reduce combustibles in refuse without an increase in generated NOx amount by burning primary fuel with an oxidation burner and an auxiliary burner in such a way that the oxidation burner are burnt in an excess air condition in which air ratio is larger than a theoretical value and the auxiliary burner is burnt in the air shortage condition that air ratio is smaller than a theoretical value. CONSTITUTION:A numeral 11 denotes an oxidation burner which is installed at the lower part of a furnace wall 12a in a pulverized-coal-fired boiler 12 and supplied with more air amount than theoretical one necessary to burn fuel completely as burning air for the oxidation burner to burn fuel for oxidation burner in excess air condition. The number 13 denotes an auxiliary burner installed at the neighborhood above the burner 11 and is supplied with less air amount than theoretical one as burning air for the auxiliary burner to burn fuel for the auxiliary burner in a air shortage condition. As the air ratio in a primary burning zone is kept in the range of 0.85-1.15 and auxiliary fuel for the auxiliary burner is held under the range of 30% to primary fuel, the amount of combustibles in refuse is reduced to about a half amount obtained in a conventional method without an increase in generated NOx amount.
