[Also in Division B1] A regulated milk supply to teats 23a, 23b may be produced from apparatus which comprises a storage container 13 for milk powder and a liquid container 4 for water which communicate with a mixing vessel 20. As liquid is sucked through the nipple 23a, the balance 11, on which the mixing vessel and a weight 26 are counterbalanced, is altered, and a micro-switch 12 operates a solenoid-controlled valve 8 to cause thermostatically controlled water from vessel 4 to flow through the regulating valve 9 to the mixing vessel and simultaneously activates a stirrer motor 24 and a conveyer motor 25 to cause the spring stirrer 14 and spiral conveyer 15 to convey milk powder on to a scatter plate from where it is fed by a stripper 17 and a second conveyer 18 to the mixing vessel 20. As shown in Fig. 1 water is also fed through pipe 27 to a supplementary container 31 from where a valve 32 regulates the supply which mixes with the milk from the outlet 22 of the mixing vessel to the second nipple 23b. A heater or cooler in the supplementary container 31 may be provided such that the temperature of the milk at the nipple may be regulated to differ from that of the milk during the mixing process. In further embodiments a second source of liquid 37 (not shown) may be provided to feed liquid into the outlet 22 (Fig. 2) or directly into the mixing vessel (Fig. 3) such that, for example, synthetic milk may be mixed with natural milk. |
