PURPOSE:To provide a water-and oil-repellent durable to laundering and dry cleaning operations, comprising a radical initiator and copolymer constituted by polyfluoroalkyl group-contg. polymerizable monomer, vinylidene chloride and specific polymerizable monomer units. CONSTITUTION:The objective water-and oil-repellent comprising (I) a copolymer made up of, as structural units, (A) >=40wt% of a polyfluoroalkyl group-contg. polymerizable monomer [pref. perfluoroalkyl alkyl (meth)acrylate]. (B) 5-50wt% of vinylidene chloride and (C) 0.5-30wt% of another polymerizable monomer having in the molecule two olefinic unsaturated bonds differing in radical polymerization activity each other [pref. (meth)acrylic ester of formula (R is H or methyl; n is 0 or 1), allyl (meth)acrylate, butadiene, isoprene or chloroprene] and (II) a radical initiator (pref. organic peroxide).
