PURPOSE:A herbicidal composition which shows synergism by combination of 3-chloro-2-(4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-propargyloxyphenyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro -2H-inda zole with paraquat. CONSTITUTION:The objective herbicidal composition is composed of (A) 1pt.wt. of 3-chloro-2-(4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-propargyloxyphenyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro -2H-inda zole of formula I and (B) 0.1-50pts.wt. preferably 0.2-4.0pts.wt. of 1,1- dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridinium ion or its salt (paraquat) of formula II. The composi tion can control a wide range of weeds in cultivated or noncultivated lands, moreover, it can develop synergism as compared with independent application and gives a herbicide composition enabling use in low-dose.
