PURPOSE:To prevent the seizure of a composite wire and the exposure of its core material, etc. by tack-pointing the front tip of a composite wire and drawing and reducing the wire by a die having a curved surface of prescribed curvature before pointing the wire into the size insertable into a drawing die. CONSTITUTION:The front end of a composite wire 1 is tack-pointed into the size insertable into the die hole 30 of a die 3 having curved surface, by leaving the outer skin 11 of said front-end part slightly. After inserting the tack-pointed part 12 into the die hole 30, the outer skin 11 and core material 10 of the wire 1 are radially reduced by drawing. Next, the wire 1 is drawn back from the die 3, and the outer skin 11 of the reduced part 13 is removed while leaving it slightly after cutting off the tack-pointed part 12; these operations are repeated at need, to point the wire 1 to the size insertable into a drawing die 2. In this way, the composite wire 1 is drawn by the die 2 without bringing the core material into contact with the die hole 20 and causing the seizure between the wire 1 and the die 2. |
